The complex-shaped injection molding tool for the LED lighting conductor of a car headlight was a real challenge for the milling experts at Color Metal.
With the new roughing and finishing tools from MOLDINO, this was done excellently. And in a much shorter time.
There are probably only a few tool manufacturers in this country who have been relying on automation for as long as Color Metal in Heitersheim, southwest of Freiburg. "We manufacture unmanned in the second and third shifts, at weekends, and often in autonomous 24/7 operation," says Otmar Gutmann. "We are also increasingly milling high-gloss surfaces milled to final dimensions, which reduces the polishing and increases accuracy," adds the owner and managing director, who runs the family business together with his wife. That was the transition to the topic. Because of the milling history of a 10-ton injection mold with complicated geometries, sophisticated demolding technology, and surfaces. A single-component mold for producing the light guide for a 'stylish' shaped LED headlamp, designed in-house by Color Metal according to customer specifications. As standard in many electric cars today, such components are highly sophisticated light sources and true works of art in terms of design.
